About Your Hosts
Ed was raised in Portland and traveled up and down the gorge as a child enjoying both hiking and fishing with his family. Ed and Phyllis have served on several local boards and enjoy sharing information about this magnificent area. Phyllis was raised in a military family that traveled the world. She has fond memories of her childhood experience which is perhaps why she is such an excellent ambassador of the Gorge.Both Phyllis & Ed remain actively involved in numerous local non-profits, historical and tourism related organizations.

Upon arriving at Brickhaven you will walk through the lush garden across a hand laid recycled brick entrance into a one of kind of architectural wonder. Designed and built in the 1950s by Portland’s commercial Cartoonist Ernie Hager, Brickhaven is constructed in a Frank Lloyd Wright Architectural style using recycled bricks and is decorated in an eclectic artistic decor.
